You’ll need some courage especially if you are white, female and on your own - the place is in the really bad SF neighborhood – Tenderloin, which is better to be visited before dark. Even taxi drivers refuse to go there, fearing thieves and killers. Daytime is also not that safe so watch your bag, phone and wallet. But you can't miss Saigon Sandwich located in the area and try their traditional banh mi stuff made of fresh ingredients. The choice is not great but the thing is the best in town. After arrogant beggars, tramps and junkies of the neighborhood, I think you will hardly care about the interior - at least it's safe. Leave before dark - the sandwiches are big and it's hard to run with full stomach trying to escape local criminals.
