Eight lakes, two large museums, fabulous gardens and lots of outdoor events – every year Golden Gate Park offers an idyllic escape from city frenzy for over 13 mln people. The place used to be nothing but sand dunes until the late 1800s when first 75,000 trees were planted and the park started to grow now to exceed the Central Park in NYC. It offers all possible entertainment: roller discoes, tennis, live opera, stand-up gigs, jogging and cycling, archery and golf pits, botanical gardens and much more. The best way to move around is to rent a five-dollar-hour bike. If you don't feel like working out join the Segway guys but be ready for mockery from the locals passing by.
