Forget the prejudice that pricey designer restaurants with romantic atmosphere are Manhattan-based only. Brooklyn's bourgeois neighborhoods have a tiny Battersby place with a tiny summer veranda – ideal for a date or a friends' night out. Their food is New American cuisine, which means corn soup with melon, duck with Enoki mushrooms and shrimps with kale and papaya. The menu changes with the season and they have a tasting set with five and seven meals for 75 and 95 dollars respectively. If you cannot afford their pricey dinner, try the fab desserts.
