The Captain Kidd

London, Great Britain

Harriet Wiseman

The Captain Kidd is one of the loveliest pubs in London, and hardly anyone knows about it! Situated on Wapping High Street, it doesn’t look like much until you are through the first door, where you suddenly find yourself in a tiny outdoor courtyard full of flowers (this is a good hint to the kind of surprises waiting as you venture further in). The pub is steeped in history, and has cosy corners everywhere to snuggle down in and start relaxing in the warmth. There are even nooks where big group can sit together yet it still feel private and secluded. It is however, at the back of the pub where the true beauty of this pub lies, the whole of the north side faces directly onto the Thames. The little beer garden really makes the most of this feature and it is a great place to enjoy your drink in summer or winter (just make sure you wrap up warm). Alternatively watch the world of the Thames go by from a table by the window inside, where you can enjoy the best of both the view and the warmth! The drink prices here are excellent as it is a Sam Smith pub, a company who keep their eyes on good value so that you can keep your gaze fixed firmly on the tide.
