King's Head might be the only place in the world where you can look for a pint of beer in the afternoon and accidentally listen to a flash mob opera. This is the first pub theater in the UK. It was opened in 1970. Playground is located literally at the bar of the pub in Upper Street in Islington. The pub itself, called King's Head Tavern and established in the 16th century, occupies a Victorian building.
Nowaday King's Head stages musical performances. For example, a new version of Carmen. After the team was joined by the New York producer Steven M. Levy (among other things, the winner of Tony Awards, the theater is getting better and better and wins one award after another.
