Ksenia Mardina
This historic bakery was frequented by writers and poets as then, Pera street which is now called Istiklal Avenue was the major hub in the European part of Istanbul. Artistic folks were lured with Paris pastry shipped to Markiz. These times are long gone – only art-nouveau stained glass remained – daily, crowds come to admire it, which makes the place a little bit messy. Take your coffee and pastry and settle in the corner by the column – as if a British diplomat just off the Orient Express.
