National Art Museum of Catalonia (MNAC)

Barcelona, Spain

Arina Sutormina

The MNAC occupies a huge exhibiting space. Its collections embrace a thousand-year-old history of Catalan, Spanish and European art from medieval Romanesque art (mural paintings, wooden altars) and Gothic art (stone sculptures, stained-glass windows) to Renaissance and Baroque art collections etc. The exhibits displayed in the latter sections as well as modern art exhibits don’t make such a strong impression as the ones in the former sections. The 69th hall opens up Modern and Neoclassicism art sections. MNAC also features a large collection of photographs, impressions and coins.
