In 1928 an architect and a genius of his time Mies van der Rohe built a German pavilion for The World Fair in Barcelona. The building still amazes with its modernity and clear lines, so that it’s hard to believe that it was constructed in the beginning of the XX century. Inside one can relax inspecting the patterns of various kinds of marble and sitting on that famous Barcelona chair that Mies van der Rohe invented specifically for this place. The metal chair lined with black leather ultimately became the example of modern design and a standard for expensive office furniture. Don’t forget to visit the souvenir shop, because it is a big mistake to leave without buying a minimalistic textile “tote bag”, a book on architecture or just a pencil with the pavilion’s silhouette.
Entrance fee for adults – 5 euros, for students – 2.6 euros, for children under 16 years - free.
