Before the Revolution, Nikolskaya Street ended with Vladimirskiye Gate with the eponymous Chapel and Kitay-gorod Wall tower. In 1934, it was all gone – the Saint Vladimir Church, the gates, the tower and the wall whose stones were taken for construction. Today, it's just a road.
