Shremetevs owned this vast area since the 18th century but in the late 19th century it all became a trade and commercial zone. The master mansion was built in 1862 and is predominantly eclectic with a touch of classicism. In early 2000, it was almost all destroyed except the facade. Today, it is a department store named Nikolskaya plaza – fancy boutiques and offices. You can have lunch in Beverly Hills diner – it is on the first floor at the corner.
