Moscow, Russia

Ksenia Kandalintseva

Originally built by Matvey Kazakov in the 1770s, the House of Moscow Civil Governor was expanded with two side annexes in 1848-1852. In 1935, it saw an overbuild and a facade makeover to look more Stalinist Empire (design by Tikhonov). Now its first floors have cafes and restaurants, including Mi Piace Italian pizza.
