Chizhevskoye Courtyard

Moscow, Russia

Ksenia Kandalintseva

The area was owned by brothers Boris and Mikhail Saltykov in the 17th century – in 1691 they built the Assumption Church here. But the new owners, merchants Gavrila and Alexander Chizhov, redeveloped the territory and constructed a complex of three-floor buildings along its perimeter – Chizhevskoye courtyard. The facilities became a hotel, warehouses to store merchants’ goods, and shops. Today the complex is under renovation.
