Once there stood a house owned by the Academy of Sciences, but in 1894 – 1899 architect Adolf Erichson constructed a massive pharmacy building on the site. It has two remarkable facades – one overlooking Nikolskaya is a mix of eclectics, classicism and baroque and is decorated with Hygeia (Hygiene) Goddess statue. The second faces Teatralny Passage and is more of a gothic style. Today it's the same chic building (it was Pharmacy number one in the Soviet times) hosting a Baccarat boutique.
