The Danes call bars like this one “brown”: the walls are paneled and have turned yellow from the cigarette smoke. It is allowed to smoke here and only cheap beer and shots are on the menu list. This is why the bar became very popular among the young. Originally it was a place for ordinary workers, and even until now you can have a drink with Copenhagen alcoholics here. We end our route here, lost in alcohol harmony and clouds of smoke.

McKluud

The territory of this unordinary district behind the Central train station is divided into three parts - White Meat City, Grey Meat City, The Brown Meat City. It is the place where meat companies, creative agencies, galleries, bars, restaurants and clubs are located. At night it is always noisy, crowdy, dirty and cheerful here. This is where Mikkeller beer has to be drunk up to the end, then a new one should be ordered at one of the local bars, then go to dance in the club and wander along industrial gateways. The bicycle is better to be left outside – there is a chance of it to be stolen here.

Meatpacking district

Mikkel Borg Bjergso is a phantom brewer. He rents brewery equipment at microbreweries around the world and sells their products at his bar. Mikkeller is one of the most famous craft beer brands, with the vastest collection of experimental sorts. One of them is dark beer brewed with copi-luwak – coffee that was digested by musangs. There is also a shop at the bar.

Mikkeller

The Bridge of Queen Louise has recently become the most famous hipster place in Copenhagen. Two years ago the car traffic was reduced here, the pedestrian area was widened and the benches were installed. In good weather half of the city gathers here, having in advance bought some beer at Mikkeller & Friends Bar. Take out your supplies and join the party: around 10 pm someone will turn the music on boombox on and the happy and drunk everybody dance, and the police just drives by. During summer season culinary and music festivals are also held here.

Dronningen Louises Bro

To get some fresh air and sober up a bit, we head to a small bar with a lake view. Here you will find 20 sorts of draft beer, no other food but chips, and a crowd of scientists physicists from the nearby Institute of Niels Bohr. As in any other good beer bar here you have to talk to barman, get to know all the news, try everything and choose the best. In case there is no spare table left outside – don’t be shy and feel free to sit with your drinks on the grass near the lake, everyone does so in Copenhagen.

Søernes ølbar

It is a bar at microbrewery. Mostly traditional sorts of beer are brewed here. For example, you can try red ale here. And although local beer is sold in ordinary supermarkets of Copenhagen, it is better to be tasted in bar: the exposed brewery equipment keeps the spirit. On the second floor there is a restaurant where you can have steak with beer sauce for dinner. The price for dinner starts from 50 dollars per person.

Nørrebro Bryghus

In a new bar of brewer Mikkeller Bjergso there are 40 kinds of draft beer presented. The selection changes every month: from beer from Alaska to beer from little Belgian villages. Also there is beer from other Danish brends – Three Floyds Brewery, To Øl, Upright, The Kernel and others. The average price per 0,3 l is 200 Russian rubles. The beer list can be checked in advance on the website. Definitely buy a couple of bottles to take with you, you will need them on the next points of the route. When choosing beer, rely on the barman’s advice; they always allow tasting beer, so beware – you can get drunk quickly and discreetly.

Mikkeller Friends

In 2006 Carlsberg beer production was moved from Copenhagen to outside the city, and former plant territories were occupied by a new district Carslberg Byen. The plan of the district received a prize at World Festival of Architecture in Barcelona in 2009. Apartment buildings are surrounded by showroom premises, squares, parks, shops, bars and museum of Carlsberg brewery. The museum is amazing and worth having a look. There is a café on its territory, where you can have lunch.

Carlsberg Byen

Market Torvehallerne was open in 2009 after a long-term reconstruction. Nowadays there are more than 40 shops with fresh farmers’ products from all over Denmark and several bars where you can try traditional sandwich smørrebrød. In Hallernes bar choose from a numerous variety of sandwiches and try the best coffee in Copenhagen at the situated next door Coffee Collective.

Torvehallerne

The Danes drink beer right from the early morning, that is why don’t be surprised seeing a glass in the hands of the locals instead of the cup of coffee. This cycle route will take you to nine bars and one footbridge.
